Smart Homes are not only about fancy and specific devices anymore. Everyone somehow lives in a smart home today. Do you have a playing console at home? Then your home is probably already smart!
Gaming devices such as the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 4 or the XBOX 1 incorporate smart home features you would never have thought of!
The Nintendo Wii, for example, is one of the most popular Video gaming consoles worldwide. Not only can you play with or against your friends- nowadays a Nintendo Wii can serve as a smart assistant! The console allows you to dim the lights in your living room or to control the temperature in your house with your game controller. You also have the possibility to stream surveillance videos via Wii. This function replaces the old-fashioned babyphone.
Speaking of surveillance - watching what is going on in your house is a very hot topic when it comes to smart homes. The video and cloud surveillance platform Smartvue added a whole new feature to the XBox 1 in terms of surveillance. This function, called Homevue, delivers HD surveillance videos in real time to your XBox 1. The Live stream can be watched on your XBOX or it can be directed to your mobile phone, tablet or computer. Homevue somehow turned the XBox 1 into a smart Home surveillance device following the same path as the Nintendo Wii!
But Smart Gaming devices do not always have to be that complex.
A PlayStation 4 for example not only consists of gaming features but also of DVD / Blue-ray or Streaming Services. When the game controller is far but you are highly in the mood to watch a movie- no problem! You can use your Smartphone to control your PlayStation and start the movie via App. This may not be as fancy as dimming lights or watch your kids, but it does allow you to enjoy a lazy Sunday!
As we can see even people who would never consider their selves as techies are somehow part of the trend! We are looking forward to updating you on the latest trends – keep following us, stay smart!
